I’m a mother, baker, wine drinker, gin lover, saxophonist, singer, eater, shopper, talker and blogger.
She Sings, She Bakes came about through two of my many passions in life – music and cake. With blatant disregard for the usual rules of blogging (hello multiple unrelated topics!) I wanted to write for anyone who loves food and baking, as well as tell the story of my new singing adventures. I hope you’ll enjoy what you read, whether your a master baker or burn baked beans…and whether you’re Ella reincarnated or frighten small children with your singing!
I have been baking since childhood, but have really taken to it since starting my family. In the last few years I’ve learnt a lot, experimented and become a better baker. I still have lots to learn and I’m enjoying it more and more. I mostly bake big cakes. Pastry has always been, and still remains, my nemesis.
Music has been part of my life for many years. I started learning piano and recorder around 8 years old, progressed to clarinet and finally settled on the saxophone. I now predominantly play baritone saxophone with Greater Manchester Police band, and it’s with the GMP Big Band that I’ve recently started my singing adventures.
I love hearing from you, so please feel free to get in touch with me here, via Twitter and Facebook, email or carrier pigeon. Details on the contact page.
